Job description
Zelh is seeking an experienced Trucking Dispatcher to support its growing fleet and help keep trucks loaded, moving, and profitable across the United States. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of hands-on experience dispatching trucks in the U.S. transportation market and will be comfortable managing the complete day-to-day movement of assigned trucks. This includes communicating directly with drivers, coordinating pickups and deliveries, resolving operational issues, and actively searching for loads to minimize empty miles and maximize truck utilization.
This is a proactive position. We are looking for someone who understands that successful dispatching is not simply monitoring trucks—the goal is to consistently find quality freight and keep drivers moving.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and dispatch assigned trucks across East Coast, West Coast, and nationwide lanes.
Maintain consistent communication with drivers regarding load assignments, pickup and delivery times, routes, delays, and operational issues.
Actively search load boards and other available sources for freight that fits each truck's location, equipment, schedule, and desired lanes.
Negotiate rates with freight brokers and work to secure profitable loads.
Minimize deadhead and empty miles by planning ahead and identifying the next load before the current load is completed whenever possible.
Coordinate pickups and deliveries and ensure drivers have all necessary load information and documentation.
Track trucks and shipments throughout transit and proactively communicate delays or service issues.
Build and maintain relationships with brokers and other transportation partners.
Understand regional freight markets and recognize strong and weak lanes.
Assist drivers with issues that arise while under load and work quickly to find solutions.
Maintain accurate load, driver, rate, and operational information.
Work closely with Brothers Freight leadership to maximize fleet utilization, service levels, and profitability.

Job requirements
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a dispatcher within the U.S. trucking industry.
Experience actively finding and booking loads, not solely tracking existing shipments.
Strong understanding of U.S. geography, freight lanes, and trucking operations.
Experience using load boards such as DAT, Truckstop, or similar platforms.
Ability to communicate professionally and confidently with drivers and freight brokers.
Experience negotiating freight rates is strongly preferred.
Ability to manage multiple trucks and priorities simultaneously.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to react quickly when loads, appointments, or driver schedules change.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of assigned trucks.
What Success Looks Like
A successful Brothers Freight dispatcher takes ownership of their assigned trucks from beginning to end. They know where their drivers are, what load they are currently running, when they will become available, and ideally what load they are running next. The objective is simple: keep the trucks loaded, minimize empty miles, communicate with the drivers, provide excellent service, and keep the operation moving profitably.
