Responsibilities:
Perform structural engineering design, analysis, and calculations for residential and mixed-use developments.
Prepare and review structural drawings, specifications, and calculations to ensure compliance with local building codes, safety standards, and engineering principles.
Collaborate closely with architects, designers, project managers, and construction teams to deliver cost-effective and structurally sound designs.
Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments during various construction phases to ensure adherence to design specifications and structural safety.
Provide solutions for structural challenges and recommend modifications or repairs as necessary.
Work with permitting agencies to ensure timely approval of designs.
Review contractor submittals and shop drawings for structural systems and components.
Stay current with advancements in structural engineering, materials, and construction technologies.
Job requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably in residential or mixed-use developments.
Licensing: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) in Oregon, or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar tools).
Thorough understanding of local and national building codes, including IBC, ASCE 7, and ACI standards.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects, and meeting tight deadlines.
Familiarity with sustainable design principles and construction practices is a plus.
