Job description

Reporting to the Team Lead Operations, the Logistics Tracking Specialist will orchestrate the collection of tracking information from all relevant LSP’s for shipments that are in transit. This can be done by Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), through the carriers’ web portal or manual status message updates. Always ensuring that information is received for all shipments in transit, and that all information is uploaded into the Odyssey portal.

The individual in this role is responsible for implementing, improving and managing the “Control Tower” concept for shipment tracking activities and will ensure status message receipt and tracking message timeliness goals are met and surpassed through continuous improvement with system enhancements, work process development, and carrier compliance.
The Logistics Tracking Specialist will work closely with the Odyssey Operations and Procurement department, and Odyssey Clients and carriers/Logistics Service Providers (LSPs).

Principal Duties
• Responsible for sending out requests of all in-transit shipments to all LSP’s on a daily basis in agreed time frames
• Responsible for accurate, clear and on time provided information about monitored shipments statuses from LSP’s
• Responsible for chasing carriers to get in-transit information for all in transit shipments from all LSP’s (Target is a 100% coverage)
• Responsible to follow Odyssey Escalations Policy to deliver monitoring information on time
• Responsible for uploading all the tracking information received from LSP’s into the Odyssey portal in agreed time frames
• Responsible for reporting shipment tracking exceptions to the Odyssey operations team and/or the client in agreed time frames.
• Work closely with Operations Team and Team Leaders in case of Customer escalations and/or lack of information from LSP’s side
• The first line of support for identifying and resolving tracking work process, system procedure and/or carrier compliance gaps causing status message latency.
• Monitor daily, weekly and monthly tracking metrics of tracking performance and identify solutions to reach or exceed set goals.
• Collaborate with Odyssey Operations & Procurement dept, to find solutions to gaps in tracking consistency.
• Communicate system enhancement ideas and work with the development team to prioritize those enhancements based on known urgency and demand.
• Conduct meetings with carriers, Odyssey Operations and Procurement stakeholders to further progress the tracking project.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert answering questions regarding Odyssey’s tracking services.
• Participate in and/or conduct system enhancement, testing, documenting, and training for Logistics Operations on any work process changes resulting from system updates.
• Liaise with other Odyssey tracking teams regarding best practices, challenges etc.

Job requirements

Qualifications, Skills, Competences:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a logistics, transportation, or supply chain-related role is required.

  • Fluent in English and at least one other European language.

  • Proficient in the standard Microsoft applications: knowledge of ERP systems (SAP) is an asset.

  • Must be able to apply own resourcefulness, common sense, and troubleshooting skills to develop solutions to problems identified with LSP’s for shipments in transit.
