Overview:

The Freight Sales Representative is responsible for developing new business opportunities by identifying potential customers requiring freight transportation services. The ideal candidate will use their sales talents to prospect, nurture leads, and close deals to meet and exceed quarterly sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and develop a pipeline of potential customers across various industries requiring freight services
  • Conduct research to identify companies' shipping needs and patterns
  • Reach out to potential customers through cold calls, emails, and other marketing tactics
  • Arrange meetings/calls with decision-makers to pitch freight solutions and pricing
  • Negotiate rates, services and contracts to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction
  • Provide outstanding customer service and follow up with existing customers to maintain relationships
  • Collaborate with operations to ensure seamless execution of services sold
  • Accurately forecast sales, track metrics and provide reports to management
  • Attend industry events and tradeshows to network and generate leads
  • Continuously develop product knowledge and stay updated on market trends

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in logistics
  • Proven experience in freight brokerage or logistics, with a strong understanding of all transportation verticals.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with clients and carriers.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications and logistics platforms, including transportation management systems (TMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) software.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements, with a commitment to upholding ethical and legal standards in all dealings.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing market conditions and client needs, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
