Our client is a US-based asset-based transportation company with a growing brokerage division. They operate their own fleet while also providing comprehensive freight brokerage services, offering customers flexible transportation solutions across North America.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Freight Agent to proactively hunt for freight opportunities and secure loads on behalf of the company. This role focuses on building relationships with shippers, identifying freight opportunities, and bringing new business to the brokerage. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong sales skills and a hunter mentality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively prospect and hunt for freight opportunities from shippers

  • Build and maintain relationships with shippers and potential customers

  • Secure loads and negotiate competitive freight rates

  • Identify new business opportunities and expand the customer base

  • Present the company's transportation solutions to prospective clients

  • Work closely with operations to ensure smooth execution of secured freight

  • Meet or exceed freight procurement and revenue targets

  • Track and manage customer relationships in CRM

  • Stay informed about market trends, rates, and capacity

Job requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in freight sales, freight agent role, or freight brokerage

  • Proven track record of hunting for new business and securing freight

  • Strong sales and negotiation skills

  • Self-motivated with a proactive, hunter mentality

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

  • Knowledge of freight markets, lanes, and pricing

  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with operations team

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment

  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
