At this point, Zelh is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Drayage Operations Specialist to manage container movement from ports and rail ramps to final delivery. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, operational awareness, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Container Tracking & Scheduling
* Monitor import/export containers from port or rail ramp to delivery.
* Track vessel ETA, rail ETA, Last Free Day (LFD), and appointment times.
* Coordinate pickup and delivery appointments with carriers, terminals, and warehouses.
2) Carrier & Customer Coordination
* Communicate daily with drivers, dispatchers, and customers to ensure on-time performance.
* Source and dispatch drayage carriers, ensuring proper documentation and rate confirmation.
* Provide proactive updates on delays, holds, or accessorial issues.
3) Documentation & Data Management
* Verify and enter load details into TMS (Bill of Lading, container numbers, delivery addresses, etc.).
* Maintain accurate EDI and spreadsheet tracking (e.g., vessel/voyage, container status, weight, size).
* Ensure all paperwork (invoices, PODs, chassis charges) is properly filed and updated.
4) Cost Control & Billing
* Review carrier invoices for accuracy and resolve billing discrepancies.
* Record detention, demurrage, and per diem charges and communicate potential risks to management.
* Support accounting with invoice approvals and payment tracking.
5) Operational Problem-Solving
* Address terminal holds, appointment restrictions, or customs delays.
* Escalate urgent issues (e.g., LFD approaching, chassis shortages, port congestion).
* Collaborate with internal teams to optimize routing and minimize cost.
Job requirements
2+ years of experience in drayage, intermodal, or port operations (preferred).
Demonstrated expertise in FCL, LCL, and consolidations.
Strong understanding of port and rail logistics processes.
Proven leadership skills.
Exceptional organizational skills; able to manage large email volumes and multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism.
Strong command of English (verbal and written).
Excellent communication and multitasking abilities.
Proficiency in TMS systems, Excel, and shipment tracking tools.
High attention to detail and ability to work in a time-sensitive environment.
