At this point, Zelh is looking for Drayage Account Manager

The Drayage Account Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the movement of containers between ports, rail ramps, and customer locations. This role involves maintaining strong communication with customers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure timely, cost-effective, and efficient drayage operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full lifecycle of drayage shipments, from booking to final delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing updates, resolving issues, and maintaining strong business relationships.

  • Quote customers accurately based on drayage market rates, rail/port fees, and accessorial charges.

  • Source, negotiate, and secure capacity with drayage carriers while maintaining carrier relationships and performance standards.

  • Update transportation management systems (TMS) with shipment details, documents, and status updates.

  • Track and trace containers from port or rail to final destination, proactively addressing delays or exceptions.

  • Monitor demurrage, detention, and accessorial charges to prevent unnecessary costs.

  • Coordinate with warehouses, ports, rail yards, and carriers to ensure smooth operations.

  • Analyze drayage operations for process improvement, cost savings, and efficiency gains.

  • Collaborate with internal sales, operations, and billing teams to ensure customer satisfaction and accurate invoicing.

Job requirements

  • Previous experience in drayage, intermodal, or container logistics is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of port and rail operations, container drayage processes, and related documentation.

  • Proficiency in using TMS and shipment tracking systems.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interacting with both customers and carriers.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail

  • Spanish-speaking is a plus

Working conditions:

  • Working schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST
