Carrier Sales

Job description

Zelh is a fast-growing, passionate outsourcing company.

Our mission is to be the most reliable company by offering and maintaining consistently high-quality services.

We achieve the mission by fostering long-term relationships with customers, employees, and vendors. Personal attention, timely communication, and respect for all people are the basis of our business philosophy!

At this point, Zelh is looking for a Carrier Sales Representative for one of our clients.

The Carrier Sales Representative is responsible for securing reliable carrier capacity and ensuring flawless execution of customer freight. This role blends strategic sourcing, fast-paced decision-making, and carrier relationship management to drive cost efficiency and service reliability. The CSR acts as a liaison between sales, operations, and carrier networks — managing real-time execution while also building long-term carrier partnerships. Success in this role requires urgency, communication, and knowledge of carrier markets and rate trends. This role performs routine assignments while expanding conceptual knowledge, developing skill sets and expertise for the next level.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Secure Secure capacity for same-day and lead-time shipments across multiple modes.

  • Execute 15+ unique daily outbound calls to carriers, presenting at least 1–2 competitive rate offers per load.

  • Prebook at least 70% of lead-time shipments (48+ hours) to optimize service and pricing.

  • Escalate uncovered loads within 12 hours of pickup to avoid service failures or costly last-minute sourcing.

  • Proactively escalate capacity issues, delays, or fall-offs within 15 minutes of identification.

  • Coordinate recovery solutions and communicate contingency plans to internal teams and customers.

  • Facilitate check calls and dispatch confirmations at critical intervals (pre-pickup, en route, pre-delivery).

  • Record IN/OUT times and milestone updates within 2 hours of events.

  • Maintain complete and accurate load records, tracking notes, and carrier status updates in the TMS.

  • Document accessorials, delays, and exceptions clearly for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Acknowledge service failures or incidents immediately and initiate corrective action plans within 15 minutes.

  • Ensure leadership, operations, and customers are informed within 30 minutes, with timely updates until resolution.

  • Support claims and discrepancy resolutions by meeting defined SLAs (acknowledge claims within 15 minutes, validate within 48 hours, billing disputes within 24 hours).

  • Participate in bi-weekly performance reviews, analyzing carrier competitiveness, execution quality, and service reliability.

  • Provide feedback to improve sourcing strategies, pricing alignment, and carrier performance.

  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and customer outcomes.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective correspondence with internal and external stakeholders

  • Proficient in using computer systems and office software (e.g., MS Office, virtual communication tools)

  • Knowledge of logistics operations, transportation modes, and freight management preferred.
